Hinge Poem
Story
Spending hours on dating apps, we look for that perfect person, one in a billions that can walk with us to the rest of our life. We put our expectations out to the world by submitting our answers to the question what we’re looking for in the perfect half. What goes around comes around. It is us that stare into the screen and face the expectations of many, coming from their answers to the same question.
‘You have to be this…’
‘I am looking for a kind of person who…’
‘I’ll introduce you to my family if you...’
‘I want my partner to be…’
We give out expectations, we harvest expectations. What about the real you that you want people to know about?

Process
In a span of a week, this poetry collection draws its words from the answers of the two questions:
- All I ask is that you...
- I want someone who...
With each swipe, the public vision of a perfect boyfriend—who I am supposed to be—is slowly revealed each day. The experience is to show society’s expectations onto one in the dating pool. It hopes to persuade the users to show their true self to the world by choosing to answer more individual-oriented prompts or asking suggestive questions that evoke conversation in their answers.
You,
Say hi!
