How can we cultivate the same feelings throughout multiple human experiences?
Practice
When we think about graphic design, the stereotype is beautiful flat vectors or charming graphics. However, visual experience is more than just how the designs look. The theme of my practice focuses on how a story can be told via multiple design materials. How can you provide the same feelings one gets when reading a book when it is transformed into an environmental design? How can we cultivate the same feelings throughout multiple visual experiences? That's the challenge but also the core of storytelling. No matter what words you use or what materials you apply, the story stays the same while the feelings are amplified, getting us closer to the goal of visual empathy. My four important questions are:
- What is the story?
- Who are the audiences and how do they perceive the main story individually?
- What is the meaning of each material and how can they convey and expand the story in their own way?
- What is the after story?
